Osteopathy is a primary healthcare profession in France but is not part of the medical or paramedical professions. The terms ‘osteopathic treatment and diagnosis’ are written in law. On the 4th of March, 2002, Article 75 of the law 2002-303 on patients’ rights and the quality of the health system gave birth to the professions of osteopath and chiropractor.
Since 2003, AFO has participated in working groups within the Ministry and the Regional Health Agencies to supervise osteopathy.

The AFO is an association whose bold actions have a union-like impact.
Its goal is to promote and perpetuate quality osteopathy, guaranteeing patient safety both at the public and government levels.
It aims to unite and bring together members in a spirit of conviviality and camaraderie.
Its commitment is to obtain the best services from its partners.
Its objective is to maintain good relations between the public, government agencies, fellow osteopaths, and all healthcare professionals.
Its motivation is to develop a high-level quality label and its mission is to support practitioners from the creation to the sale of their practice.
